Shortly after meeting each other on retreat many years ago, my guest and I shared a season of yearning for the love that we now both have.  We steeped ourselves in this "holy ache" as we both call it; we trusted in it, and with it.  Join me for a conversation with Alexandra Roxo.  We talk about desire, yearning, aloneness and living a life in love as Love.
.
Alexandra Roxo is an artist, bestselling author, and mentor in the space of embodied spirituality and transformation. She aims to bring modern, embodied spirituality into the lives and hearts of people who have forgotten their spiritual connection to life, or their bodies, or sexuality, or simply think spirituality cannot include their full wild, raw selves. Her goal is to continue to invite people into devotional and spiritual living, and to reclaim experience based embodied spirituality again as a greater culture.
.
Alexandra has been featured as a guest speaker on many renowned podcasts and on TV including two seasons on Netflix's "Too Hot to Handle'' where she was called "The deeper connection queen". She also has appeared on ViceTV’s "Slutever", Epix’s "Sex / Life" show, and at numerous festivals and events worldwide. Well + Good called her a “modern spiritual leader” and The New York Times said of Alexandra’s work: “Come for the meditation coaching, stay to get in touch with the divine feminine within.” She has also been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Playboy, and In Style Magazine for her work bringing embodied spirituality to women worldwide. She has led retreats at 1440 Multiversity, Kripalu Center, and Maha Rose.
.
Her first book, titled "F*ck Like a Goddess: Heal Yourself, Reclaim Your Voice, Stand in Your Power," was released in July 2020 with Sounds True. It quickly became the number one new release on Amazon and remained a bestseller for five consecutive weeks in 2020. The book achieved this status in three categories. It regained its popularity in 2023 with the release of the paperback version. It was featured on Refinery 29, Pop Sugar, Bustle, and In Style as a comprehensive guidebook for women on modern spirituality beyond the mainstream. It is also praised as a practical resource for healing that encompasses the body, mind, and spirit. Publisher's Weekly called it "a sharp forceful debut" and it was one of Bustle's "best summer reads."
.
Before delving into the space of spirituality with her work, Alexandra spent over a decade writing and creating as a filmmaker, artist, actress, and director, including co-creating the cult webshow, "Be Here Nowish" and the VICE show ''Every Woman'' which was viewed by over 15 million people and turned into a TV pilot with executive producer Spike Jonze.
.
Alexandra holds a BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where she studied playwriting, art for healing and social change, movement and embodiment, vocal work, and the dramatic arts for healing and expression. She has also studied with various teachers in different spiritual traditions since she was 13 years old, when she met her first spiritual teacher, Bobby Drinnon, as a young girl in Georgia. She began her studies of embodiment, meditation, and yoga practice at 18, and has studied various types of energy work, and is a student of multiple spiritual traditions. She has also been trained in trauma informed care and works with clients one on one as a coach and mentor.
.
“Alexandra reminds us of our feminine power and that sensuality and devotion belong together.” —Rebecca Campbell, bestselling author of Rise Sister Rise

Contemplating the unforgivable is a very personal curiosity, a spiritual and healing journey for some of us.  In this episode, I explore the practice and the power of forgiveness through the lens of a brave heart and remarkable artist named Sharon Kagan.  She is literally, figuratively and artistically the thread that knits us all together - in the unconditional love of forgiveness.
.
Sharon Kagan’s multimedia work focuses on listening, unraveling, and pulling apart the complexities of intergenerational trauma and forgiveness. She brings her experiences as the daughter of Holocaust survivors to her work.  Kagan has developed a complex practice that is built upon the symbolic act of knitting. Layering intimate stories onto the act of knitting transforms this traditional woman’s craft into a distinct language; a metaphor.  Her work speaks to the patterns that are created when a life is broken, a stitch is dropped.  But breaking can also be an act of breaking free.  Kagan sees resilience, beauty, and integrity amidst her parents’ broken lives.
.
Kagan’s practice comes from intersectional feminism and privileges the act of listening.  By using stories that have been contributed anonymously and direct engagement with her audiences she becomes “the listener.”  At her Alfred University exhibit students sat beside her; knitting, sharing stories or in silence.
.
Kagan received the WORD Artist Grant (2021). Recent solo exhibitions include “Compassion in Action,” Alfred University, NY (2022); “The Politics of Color,” Show Gallery, Hollywood, CA; and “String Theory,” College of Southern Idaho, Twin Falls, ID (2020-2021) and Yellowstone Art Museum, Billings, MT (2019).

I have loved Nina from the moment I met her, she is the embodiment of Spirit.  And when Nina sings, you can feel this embodiment and Spirit in every cell of your body.  Join us for a heart-to-heart conversation about the power of music, the power of her music.
.
Since 2012, Nina Grae has enjoyed sharing her authentic voice on various festival, conference, and community stages. After transitioning out of tech sales on the day of Steve Jobs’ death in October 2011 — his infamous quote, ‘have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become’ inspired her to put in her 2-week notice immediately — Nina has been using her speaking, written and singing voice to liberate, heal and inspire folks from all walks of life. Nina is a fierce advocate for truth-telling in a world that sits too comfortably within status-quo’s & pleasantries, and firmly believes our voices have the power to bring big love to both our inner and outer world.
.
Aside from her full-length studio album, The Remedy, three collaborative EP’s (Knight & Grae, “8” EP; West Coast Wildfire Self-Titled EP; Indigo Keys, “Divine Vibrations”) and various single collaborations, Nina’s voice has been featured on multiple podcasts, commercials, VO projects, and as a guest teacher/musician in many women’s circles (her favorite!). Her most recent vocal love affair has been the curation and facilitation of a creative jam session called “SoulJam” where folks are encouraged to bring their art, their heart, and their courage to share what they’re currently working on within a safe, supportive, soulful group container.
.
Hello from Mexico, The first release from Nina’s upcoming EP showcases DIGTL’s rhythmic mastery + warm electric melodies and provides a bright canvas for Nina’s sensory exploration + desires for romantic traveling.

Join me as my guest David Cunningham and I explore our unique perspectives of the polarity work that we guide with men and women.  We share a love for David Deida's book "The Way of the Superior Man," and we explore our lives as healed healers with the deep spiritual and healing work that we have the great honor of doing in this lifetime.
.
In 2017, David was called to begin hosting and facilitating an annual spiritual growth and rejuvenation retreat for men.  In the summer of 2019, he began formal coaching training under Master Coach Marianna Lead, receiving his Professional Coaching Certificate from the International Coaching Federation.  Additionally, he has trained extensively in Nuero-Linguistic Programming and the Enneagram as a method for creating profound change.
David is known for his gentle, empathic wisdom. He cares deeply about others and loves helping people reframe situations to find peace in the midst of difficulty. For the past two decades, he has remained deeply committed to doing the deep, and often challenging, spiritual work required to heal and grow.  His passion for self-development and spiritual sensitivity has equipped him to listen and coach with compassion, kindness, humor and insight.  Clients benefit from his insight but also from his ability to help them reprogram their subconscious to be in alignment with their deepest desires.
Sober since January of 1999, he is frequently asked to share 12 step principles to help people overcome fear, anger and shame.  As a tenured professor, he utilizes foundational teaching principles to lead, teach and mentor others into knowing and living a life of purpose.  As a classically trained artist, he sees the beauty in the world that others overlook.  As a coach, he helps others see the beauty in themselves that may otherwise be overlooked.
Abandoned by his father and abused by his stepfather, at the age of 19, David turned to alcohol and anything he could find to numb the pain from his childhood.  Suicidal, bankrupt, and desperate, David got the help he needed from friends, mentors and strangers to start the healing and recovery process. Coaching and teaching is a natural outgrowth of the gratitude he feels for those that have listened, loved and helped him have the amazing life he has today.
David currently lives in a beautiful historic home in downtown Indianapolis with his wife Amber, five children, cat, dog and birds.  In addition to coaching David is a professor of Art at Franklin College and an award-winning artist.

What happens when we stop to listen to our Soul? And what happens when we hear what our Soul needs, and we take action to answer those needs?  For me, Ifie embodies this answer (what she calls "Soul Care") as a poet, writer, spoken word artist, mother, wife, daughter and big, big Soul in this lifetime.
.
Ifie Natasha Brandon is a professional poet, author, and creative director who believes in the power of authenticity and creative storytelling. She has spent the last ten years as a multi-medium storyteller, helping entrepreneurs and organizations find purpose and tell stories that impact their communities.
.
She is a spoken word artist, an author of 3 books (Learning to Love, 100 Questions for the Soul, and September…)  and has been published in various publications and online platforms including ABCNews and several Medium Publications.
.
Her work in soul care began in 2014, when she hosted a small dinner party with drinks and deep discussion as a space to explore possibility and commune with like minds. She has since formed partnerships with creative women entrepreneurs to curate intimate retreats and pop up events.
.
She is a certified yoga instructor, a fitness lover, and a serial show & movie watcher. When she isn’t working, she’s taking long walks in nature or watching movies with her husband and two kids.
.
She describes herself as “somewhere between Lauryn Hill, Nola Darling and Jesus Christ."

Emilia has always been dedicated to soul work and has always been in deep devotion to the sacred. She is a keeper of ancient mysteries, dedicated to the healing arts, poet, herbalist, birth keeper, doula, energetic bodyworker, therapist and embodiment teacher.  She has been studying with different ancestral wisdom keepers, mystics and healers from around the world. What is the exact intersection of spirituality and health?
In this episode Patricia explores the spiritual aspects of heath with Dr. Erica Matluck, a long time friend.  This conversation covers the influence of Faith, the inspiration of Erica's experience learning from the Shipibo in Peru, and the importance of Sound in healing.  We touch on motherhood and Erica's thoughts on a holistic approach to wellness.
Dr. Erica Matluck is a modern medicine woman and the creator of Seven Senses, a holistic framework for healing and transformation. She is trained as a Naturopathic doctor, family nurse practitioner, Reiki Master and multidisciplinary yoga instructor. Combining over a decade of experience working in conventional and alternative medicine, she brings a truly holistic lens to wellbeing, addressing the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of health. Ancient wisdom and Eastern philosophy thread through all of her work, which has been featured in Harpers Bazaar, Mindbodygreen, Well and Good, Vogue and Women’s Health.
She signs every email with this Iyengar quote:
"Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open." -B.K.S. Iyengar
